Last weekend my homie DJ Royale from the city of brotherly love flew into Pittsburgh with his lady Rita for a fun filled weekend. Friday night we doubled up and played for a packed house at my weekly S BAR night. On Saturday afternoon we both played at the Puma Store in the Southside works and later that night we headed over to the monthly Down and Derby roller skating jam at Belvedere's in Lawrenceville. The weather was gorgeous all weekend which helped put everyone in P-Burgh in a good mood and made for some great partying. Check the pics below to see how it all went down. Of course you know we had to introduce Royale and his girl to their first Primanti's sandwich. Big shouts to everyone I ran into over the weekend including Vinny, Brandon, Bonics, Bowser, Zack & Nate, Sneaky Mike, J Pitts, Deli Dave, Jesse from Commonwealth Family, Zimmie and countless others. This Thursday I'm heading out to Philly to rock with Royale at his weekly downtown party @ LOIE!

Miami Gigs / March 8th-12th 2009
Last month I went down to Miami with my girl to get some sun and I also played three shows while I was in town. Sunday night (3-8-09) I played at ''Classic Sundays'' at Love Hate Lounge. The theme was classic hip-hop, r&b, soul, funk and reggae. These cats have been throwing this party every Sunday night for almost two years. I was psyched to play for a packed crowd who wanted to hear nothing but good music. You can see in the pics below that I probably had the lightest skin in the whole building but it was nothing but love. Drinks were in the air and the ladies were shouting every word to the joints I played (check the video below). Big shouts to Moe for hooking me up, Mark from Basic Vocab, DJ Self Born (who played a super ill March 9th Biggie tribute set) and everyone else involved.
Tuesday Night (3-10-09) I got a chance to rock with DJ's Keen One and ICue at their weekly hip-hop/dance party at Buck 15. Once again, the party was super fresh and the music was off the chain. The crowd was part hipster and part hip-hop but everyone came out to dance and get their sip on.
Wednesday (3-11-09) I was asked to come back and play at Love Hate lounge for an open format night. It was good to get a chance to show a little more of my versatility and hang with everyone I had met throughout the week.
Ritual Monday @ Zen 4-20-09
Had the night off so I went down to Zen last night for their weekly Service Industry Night to check out DJ D-Rock from Charlotte, NC as well as local DJ homies J-Spin and Xavier. Good crowd and good music. Shouts to Digital Dave, Bonics, Joe S, Johnny V, Justin Pisano, Margot B and everyone else I ran into.

Monthly Gig @ Slippery Rock University
Last night I made the trek up to Slippery Rock, PA for my monthly gig at Ginger Hill. Slippery Rock is about an hour north of Pittsburgh and Slippery Rock University is located there. There's not much going on in this small town but my gigs there are always insane. These kids come ready to party. Ginger Hill is one of the only bars in town so that ensures that it's gonna be extra crunk every time up I'm there. Slippery Rock was also a 'dry' town until just a few years ago so it's still a baby as far as nightlife goes. G-Hill has it on lock though. Big shouts to my main man Brian (2nd pic below w/ me) for getting me involved and for really making an impact on the party scene up there. Also, shouts to Matt the owner and to DJ Grant for holding it down locally.
My homies Aaron from shop412, Dave (my graphic designer) and John (one of my best friends for over 15 years) all came up with me to get their party on. It was my last gig for the semester so it was extra dope. Kids were buggin' out from 10pm till 2am. Looking forward to these kids getting back from summer break soon so we can continue the tradition. This is definitely one of the party's I look forward to every month. Also wanted to give shouts to all my SRU seniors who are moving on to bigger and better things. Look me up if you make your way into the big city. My pops actually graduated from SRU in the 60's as well which is an interesting tidbit I figured I'd throw in there.

DIPLO @ DIESEL w/ DJ Nugget, CommonWealth Family and LazerCrunk
Last Night, Talk to Vinny and Nakturnal brought DIPLO into Pittsburgh and it turned out to be a really great party. The place was packed, the crowd was amazing and it was a nice change of pace to see one of the bigger nightclubs in town host something along these lines. I was lucky enough to be one of the openers along with LazerCrunk (DJ's Cutups & Keebs) and local hip-hop act CommonWealth Family.
The night started off around 5:30pm at Club Cafe where RedBull hosted an info session with DIPLO. It was great to see a who's who of Pittsburgh's music scene all in one place. Everyone from emcees to producers, DJ's, record store owners and promoters were in the building. Shouts to Danny from Redbull and DJ Zimmie for orchestrating the event. Chairman Mao from Ego Trip was also in the house to conduct the interview with DIPLO and head up the Q&A session that directly followed.
After the info session I grabbed my DJ gear and went straight to Diesel to get ready for the main event. I went on first followed by CommonWealth Family (who I also performed with/played their tracks) then LazerCrunk and finally DIPLO. Check out the pics below and peep how crazy it was. Big shout to star photographers Jordan Beckham and Evan Sanders for also coming out to shoot the event.
