Down and Derby Kickoff at RAIN in the Palms, Las Vegas w/ Kid Sister and DJ SHR3D. 12-17-09

Wow. Down and Derby has come a long way over the past four years. A great event conceived by my good friends Vince and Ben has taken this party from a loft in downtown Pittsburgh to some of the biggest spots in NYC, L.A. and Las Vegas. I'm fortunate enough to have been a part of it all. For the past year I have been flying out to DJ at D&D at Beauty Bar, Las Vegas with my good friend DJ SHR3D. After much anticipation, it was announced that a deal had been struck with the Palms to move the party into RAIN nightclub once a month. I was lucky enough to be put on the bill and it was one of the biggest Derby's yet. Kid Sister came through for a special performance and many Vegas socialites came out to skate, drink and fall on their asses. Now, I landed in Vegas at 7pm that Thursday and had to fly back out at 9am. Needless to say, there was no sleeping until I got back on the plane that morning. After DJing until 3:30am, we headed over to Drais after hours for a couple cocktails and to chill out. Great to see a lot of my Vegas friends out as well including Richard and DJ's Neva, Supra and Lisa Pittman. Here's the pics...

Lady Gaga concert was also at the Palms that night.

Pittsburgh CD Release at S BAR 12-13-09

This past Sunday I threw the Pittsburgh release party for my new mixtape, ''Real Feel 09.'' I knew when I was planning the event that I wanted it to be on a Sunday night so all my people who work in the bars could come through to party. However, the first step was to pick a Sunday when there was no Steeler game. I decided to do an invite only party on December 13th and hit up all the people who had been coming to my gigs on the regular for the past year or who worked at the spots I worked at. The response was great and I managed to get a ton of friends to RSVP. The party was from 8pm-10pm on the new side of S BAR and you had to be on the list to get in. Everyone who came through got a free copy of the mixtape. DJ Royale from Philly came through to play and celebrate the night with me as well as Joe from Ohio who owns the club I play at in Youngstown. After 10pm the doors opened to the original side of S BAR and the party continued until 2am. Big shouts to everyone who came out to support!!

Washington D.C. 12-6-09 to 12-9-09

Last week I went to Washington D.C. to visit my good friend Jeremy whom I recently just reconnected with. I came up in the Pittsburgh DJ scene with Jeremy (DJ J Roberts) in the early 00's when I was attending college in downtown Pittsburgh. Back then, I spent a lot of time with Jeremy and his roommate, Todd, who were busy throwing parties and getting their DJ grind on. Jeremy relocated to D.C. many years ago and really did his thing in the house music scene there, playing the best spots in town with the likes of Thievery Corporation and many of the biggest names in the industry. J is still djing at some hot spots in town as well as working for the Ritz Carlton. He invited me down for a few days to hang out with him and his wife, Mari and hooked me up with an incredibly cheap hotel room right in Northwest D.C. The next few days were spent eating great food, checking out the sites and getting my dance on. A few highlights were the restaurant/bar MARVIN (an ode to Marvin Gaye), dancing at the 18th St. Lounge's legendary Sunday night party and the H Street Country Club's indoor miniature golf course. I'm embarrassed to say that this was my first trip to D.C. since I was a little kid but being that it's only a 4 hour drive from Pittsburgh, I plan on going back quite frequently. Shouts to J Roberts for a great trip!

H Street Country Club had an indoor Miniature Golf Course. I can't even explain how ill this place was. A regular bar and restaurant downstairs but if you wander upstairs there is a full blown miniature golf course and all the holes are tailored after classic D.C. landmarks and specimens. Check out the dead presidents hole. One of the holes actually has a fake rat in it which is just funny. The design of this entire place was immaculate and probably more well thought out than any gimmick I've ever seen in a bar before.

Army men, made out of army men.

Hit your ball in the hole but watch out for the rat.
