Kool Herc Tribute/Benefit at Elixir (3-28-11)

Pittsburgh DJ's came together late last month to honor the father of hip hop, DJ Kool Herc and to raise money for his recent medical bills at Elixir in the Southside. Monday nights are not an easy night to throw an event in the Burgh but we still managed to bring people out and raise some funds. I also got a chance to dig through my crates at home and put together an all vinyl set for the night which was really fun. Shouts to all the DJ's involved (Jan, Strobe, Hypnotiza, Bamboo, Source, Underdog, J-Spin, Super Scott, Mech) and Digital Dave for putting it all together.

Bonics & I at S BAR before Wiz's 2011 tour

Bonics was in town for a couple days before he left for the remainder of 2011 to travel all over the globe with Wiz Khalifa so I asked him to join me on the decks at S BAR. Friday nights are always great but Bonics put it over the top and drew in a ton of people that wanted to say goodbye before he left. Crazy to think that a year ago, we were having talks about him embarking on this new chapter of his DJ life and now just in the past few weeks I've seen him on Letterman, BET, MTV and he just rocked for 80,000 people at Coachella. Congrats to my good friend and one of the most talented DJ's I know. You deserve it.

Lion's Den at PSU w/ New York Giant (3-24-11)

The big man, New York Giant brought me back up to Penn State last month for a guest set at the Lion's Den. Always a good time up there. Luckily this time I paced myself with the Jameson! (They call Tuesdays, "Ruthless" Tuesdays at PSU because they go so hard on the whiskey lol) As always I had an incredibly fun (and relatively sober) night with the boys. Shouts to Pete Butta as well for the hospitality.
